Nazar Kulchytskyy took part in the “Application of AI in Legal Practice” webinar

15. 11. 2023

On November, 16, Nazar Kulchytskyy, the founder of  Nazar Kulchytskyy & Partners Law Firm took part in the “AI and Legal Practice: opportunities, risks, and application limits” discussion panel. The event was organised by the teams of the analytical and advocacy platform Dnistrianskyi Centre and JustTalk, a platform for professional discussions about criminal justice.

Undoubtedly, AI is drawing more and more attention with its “promises” of better efficiency. Yet, what is its actual potential for criminal advocacy and criminal cases?

The practical application of AI and its potential considering the digital proficiency of the legal community and the expectations of the clients were the focus of the panel discussion held by Nazar Kulchytskyy and Vitalii Matvieiev, attorney, Head of the Board at PROJECTOR NGO and the Head of the Human Rights Clinic project. The panel was moderated by Ivan Horodyskyy, PhD (Law), Attorney-at-Law, co-founder and member of the Board of the Dnistrianskyi Centre, and Vice-President of the Ukrainian Bar Association.

In particular, the following issues were addressed during the panel:

  • ▪ the potential of AI in improving the efficiency of an attorney during the defence in criminal proceedings;
  • ▪ ethical aspects of applying AI in criminal advocacy;
  • ▪ risks and ways of their mitigation while applying AI in criminal advocacy;
  • ▪ potential of AI for evidence collection and interpretation in criminal cases;
  • ▪ legislative and ethical changes required to adapt representatives of the legal profession to a safe application of AI.
