Markiyan Bem, a partner at Nazar Kulchytskyy and Partners, shared his insights on the functioning of the national sanctions mechanism, particularly the practice of the High Anti-Corruption Court, during a discussion organized by the analytical and advocacy platform Dnistryanskyi Center.

Since the full-scale invasion, the Dnistryanskyi Center, in a powerful alliance with the International Renaissance Foundation, has been effectively working on compensating for damages caused by Russian aggression.

The launch and operation of international and national compensation mechanisms were analyzed and discussed during the event. Attention was also drawn to the High Anti-Corruption Court, which is quick and innovative in addressing issues related to applying the Law of Ukraine “On Sanctions” and serves as a driving force for improving national legislation.

Equally important, some ideas expressed by the Dnistryanskyi Center experts have not only been reflected in the practice of the High Anti-Corruption Court but have also been instrumental in shaping several legislative initiatives, for example, in the draft law amending Ukrainian laws regarding the mechanism for protecting the property rights of third parties.

It is also worth noting that Markiyan Bem prepared detailed materials concerning the confiscation of Russian assets, the protection of third-party rights, and the improvement of the Ukrainian confiscation mechanism in the context of draft law No. 11195 earlier.
